The Body Shop Rainforest Moisture Shampoo Review

Hello everyone,
We all like to use organic, chemical free products. Don’t we? For me, I didn't really pay much attention to the ingredients in my skin care and makeup, even until 1 year ago. But recently I have become more aware and cautious about the ingredient lists.
The Body Shop is a brand which has impressed me all along. I love their products, be it skin care or makeup. My regular shampoo had touched the bottom of the bottle and I needed to get a new one. I went to TBS store to buy the Banana Shampoo which I was planning to get since long, but unfortunately it was OOS. That’s when the SA suggested me their RAINFOREST MOISTURE SHAMPOO. I have dry, frizzy hair and so I thought of giving this a try.

Coming from the house of TBS, I was naturally expecting a lot from this shampoo. So  let’s see if it could live up to my expectations or not..

What The Body Shop says:-
Gently cleanses to help restore moisture and improve the hair’s softness without weighing it down, for a smooth and shiny finish.
  • ·        Contains pracaxi oil, manketti nut oil and Community Trade honey and sugar.
  • ·        No silicones, no sulphates, no parabens and no colourants
  • ·        For dry and damaged hair.

Price:-
Rs 795 for 250ml

Packaging:-
The shampoo comes in a cylindrical plastic bottle with a flip top cap. The bottle is sturdy and the cap is leakage-proof making it ideal for travelling.

Product Description (Texture, Color, Fragrance):-
The shampoo is pale brown in color and has a refreshing fragrance. The texture is on the runnier side.

My experience with The Body Shop Rainforest Moisture Shampoo:-
I have dry, frizzy hair and I always look out for moisture in my hair care products and that’s the main reason why I got this, it said “Moisture Shampoo”.  Each time I used the shampoo, I hoped that "rainforest moisture" will moisturize my dry hair, but no, it didn’t. It made my hair drier. It didn’t make my hair as soft and smooth as I expected it to be. Even the same conditioner which works fine with other shampoos couldn’t help much when used after this product. Moreover, I feel that this shampoo is way too gentle for my hair; it doesn't clear all the junk out of my hair like other shampoos. I need a lot to lather it up and also I did have a very hard time evenly distributing it on my hair. I have tried using in small quantities multiple times. But it only lathers well after 2-3 applications. In any case, I just end up using quite a lot of the product. Moreover, not every day we have immense time and patience to shampoo hair 3-4 times and waiting it to lather.
I gave my MIL to use it hoping it to work on her. She has normal hair and faced similar issues.

Summing up the PROs and CONs:-

PROs:-
  • Contains pracaxi oil, manketti nut oil and Community Trade honey and sugar.
  • No silicones, no sulphates, no parabens and no colourants.
  • Very mild.
  • Amazing fragrance.
  • Travel friendly packaging.
  • Easily available online and at all TBS stores worldwide.

CONs:-
  • Dries out my hair.
  • Pricey.
  • Needs a lot of product and effort to lather.
  • Doesn’t give a squeaky clean feel.

Final Thoughts:-
As I said earlier, I was expecting a lot from this shampoo, but sorry to say, I got disappointed each time I used this product. I really hate bashing products, especially when it is from a brand I so love; but I am sorry TBS, this really didn’t work for me. Moreover, this is pricey. I don’t mind paying for products that actually work; but this price is ridiculous for a product that doesn't deliver too much.
