MAC Retro Matte lipstick Flat Out Fabulous Review, Swatches, LOTD

Hello everyone..
Another year filled with sweet memories and joyous times has passed. You have made 2016 a very special and memorable year for me; and for that I can’t thank you enough. Wishing everyone a very happy, delightful and fun filled New Year ahead.

Coming back to today’s post, it is a review of a famous MAC lipstick- Flat Out Fabulous. Often termed as their cult favorite, this is
from their Retro Matte range. So lets get down to the nitty-gritty.

Packaging:-
The lipstick comes in a glossy black bullet case, with shade name and number at the base. The bullet comes in a black box, and ingredient list, price are mentioned on it.

Shade:-
MAC
describes this shade as “Bright Plum Matte”. On me it looks more of a bright toned fuchsia with hints of purple. Actually depending on the skin tone, pigmentation of lips and surrounding light, it can pull fuchsia or it can pull plum. Like on my cousin who is medium skin toned and has pigmented lips, FoF leans more towards plum. Again, it looks more fuchsia in day light and purple in low light; quite a chameleon. But whatever it is, it is absolutely gorgeous. Bright and bold, yet pretty wearable, even during the day.

Texture:-
The shade belongs to MAC’s Retro Matte range. I feel the formula as with all retro mattes is a tad bit dry.  You need to prep your lips really well. Your lips have to be freshly scrubbed, primed and prepped; otherwise this will tug and accentuate your dry, flaky lips.

Pigmentation:-
It has an incredible color payoff. One swipe and you are done.

Staying Power:-
It stays on for a really long time; almost 7 hours with snacks and drinks. With time or/and after full meal it wears off a little, but evenly. The tint remains though.

Summing up LIKES and DISLIKES:-

What I LIKED about MAC Retro Matte lipstick- Flat Out Fabulous:-
  • Absolutely gorgeous color.
  • Universally flattering shade.
  • Brightens up face.
  • Blue-based color makes teeth look whiter.
  • Incredibly pigmented.
  • Awesome staying power.
  • Leaves a pretty tint.

What I DIDN’T LIKE about MAC Retro Matte lipstick- Flat Out Fabulous:-
  • It remains out of stock most of the time.
  • Pricey.
  • Can highlight dry patches and fines lines if lips are not well prepped.

Final Thoughts:-
It is winter and I see myself wearing this lipstick every now and then.  This is my winter favorite color. Every time I wear it I get compliments, followed by questions of which brand, shade name etc.
It is a statement, yet subtle; i
ndeed Flat out Fabulous. You just have to keep your lips well prepped.

(In real it looks a little more plumy)

Rating:-
4/5
