Look of the Day: Lohri Makeup 2016

Mungfali di khushbu te gurh di mithaas,

Dil di khushi te aapneya da pyar,

LOHRI da tyohar…

Yeah, I know I am a day late in wishing you all, but it is better to be late than never.  I wanted to write this post yesterday itself, after coming back from my first ever Lohri ‘meet’, but it continued almost till midnight and I was too exhausted after all the dancing and singing. Ahhh..!! I should dance a bit more often.
Anyway, back to today’s post. This is the look I went for yesterday. It is a simple golden and raspberry eye with bright bold lips.
And here is the breakdown…

Base:-
My foundation is Studio Fix Fluid by MAC.
Apply a good concealer under the eyes, preferably couple of shades lighter than your actual your skin tone. It is very important to have a bright under eye area for any eye look to work.

Eyes:-
Make sure you have an even and smooth base. Apply an eye primer so that the eye shadows can be applied in a smooth, even layer, and so that it will stay in place on the eyelid… I have used Urban Decay eye shadow Potion.
On my upper eye lid I applied a light golden eye shadow, blended with a raspberry. I blended the colors with a beige-brown eye shadow on the crease area. For highlighting my inner duct area I applied a shinny golden eye shadow and on brow bone I applied a pale, shimmered golden. All the eye shadows are from Coastal Scents 258 eye shadow pallet.
I skipped any liner on upper lid and went straight to lining lower lash line. I applied Face Magnet eyes kajal and then smudged it with a smudge brush. After that the same raspberry color on my smude brush and dabbed it on the outer corner of lower lash line. I have completed my eye makeup with the L’Oreal Million Lashes mascara.

Lips:-
I was confused whether to go for neutral lips or bold lips. Finally when I decided to go for bold lips, I was confused in between a bright pinkish red and an orange lipstick. That’s why I went for both together. I applied MAC Morange on my upper lips, MAC Relentlessly Red on my lower lips and smacked lips together.

Cheeks:-
I used NYX Dessert Rose to add a flush of color on my cheeks. I used Benefit highbeam on my cheekbones and nose bridge.

I wore an Anarkali salwar suit whose color surprisingly matched my lip color. I finished off my look with a bindi and a pair of silver, matte gold plated jhumkas.
That’s it. Hope you liked the look. Share your lohri looks with me too. Mail me or tag me on facebook.

I wish that the warmth of the bonfire, sweetness of gur and Rewri remain with you forever.
