Smashbox High Definition Concealer in Light and Fair/Light Review

Hello everyone,

Today I’ll be reviewing High Definition concealers from the house of SmashboxSo, if under eye bags, dark circles, blemishes, redness aren't your friends, then this post is for you.

COMPANY SAYS:-
A liquid concealer that masks dark circles and imperfections. Smashbox High Definition Concealer covers imperfections and dark circles with a weightless, good-for-your-skin liquid formula that leaves a natural finish and provides buildable coverage. Cell-energizing Ribose renews the appearance of skin, and soft focus pearls deflect light to minimize the appearance of blemishes and fine lines.
Smooth your way to fresh, flawless skin with Smashbox Cosmetics High Definition Concealer. This fabulously weightless concealer minimizes dark circles and erases any flaws and imperfections. Infused with Ribose, Soy, Angelica Extract, and Caffeine, the formula minimizes under-eye puffiness, reduces redness, and reenergizes the skin as light reflecting pearls eliminate the appearance of fine lines and blemishes.

PRICE:-
23$

PACKAGING:- The product comes in a squeeze tube with a slanted nozzle applicator which allows ease of application and full control of the amount of product you want to release. I apply it with fingers and blend with sponge.

SHADES AVAILABLE:-
  • Fair for very fair skin with neutral undertones
  • Lightfor light skin with neutral undertones
  • Fair/Light for fair skin with pink undertones
  • Mediumfor medium skin with pink/neutral undertones
  • Medium/Dark for medium skin with olive/yellow undertones
  • Darkfor dark skin

I got two, Fair/Light and Light. On my NW 25 skin tone and on my dear reddish dark-circles and bluish blood vessels both work well, but I feel Fair/Light looks better :P But I always feel the need of corrector first, blame the coverage!

TEXTURE AND FINISH:-
The texture is thicker than liquid, but not as thick as cream, a creamy liquid kind of concealer it is. You have to shake the tube pretty hard before using; otherwise it will come just as a runny liquid. With a good shake you can get the right consistency. It settles into a silky, satiny finish. A quick sweep of your favorite powder is necessary after this. It is adequately moisturizing, but the product creases when I try applying more than one layer. So one should be careful about that.

COLOR PAYOFF AND STAYING POWER:-
It has a low to medium coverage which is great for daily use. I personally don’t like low coverage concealers. However, when I complete the whole concealing process, i.e. color correcting, concealing and patting with powder; the result is much better. It stays around 3hours on my under eye area when used alone and for 5+ hours when used after corrector and followed by powder.

PHOTOGRAPHY:-
I have worn this during photo shoots and faced no flashback issues. It doesn’t contain SPF, this is good for photography, but also not very ideal for daily use. So if you have plans to go out in the sun, make sure you apply sunscreen prior to this.

FINAL THOUGHTS:-
I don’t wear concealers on daily basis and for shoots and special occasions I prefer something creamier and with better coverage. This is kind of average, neither great, nor bad. If you have well hydrated skin and not very severe dark circles, then you might just love this. It blends well, doesn’t settle into lines or creases, unless you start layering it up. I just wished it had a better color payoff and staying power.

RATING:-
3/5
