How to Make Your Own Moisturising Body Butter with 2 simple Ingredients

Delightful, decadent and super easy to make, homemade body butter is my absolute favorite. It is great for dry skin and has been my saviour through some really very harsh winters. I made my first batch of body butter sometime in 2013 and from then I have never looked back at the body butters sitting on the racks of the shops.

Today I’ll be sharing an easy-peasy recipe following which you can make your own body butter at home. You just need 2 ingredients; yes, you read it right...just two ingredients. This is rich and creamy and is a feast for the skin. It melts straight into my skin, leaving it moisturized, soft and smooth for hours.

So lets see what ingredients you need..

Coconut Oil: Rich in fatty acids, it is incredibly hydrating, conditioning and moisturizing.

Rosewood Essential oil:- Well you can use any essential oil of your choice. I have used Rosewood because it is winter and this essential oil has a subtle, yet surprisingly sweet, woody aroma with a floral hint to it. Hope that makes sense!!!

RECIPE:-
Pour/scoop out the coconut oil in a bowl. If your coconut oil has melted you need to put the bowl of coconut oil in the refrigerator till it becomes opaque.
Once your mixture looks slightly opaque, take it out from the refrigerator and start whipping.  I use an electric mixer which makes the process faster and less painful. I remember how my hand ached when I tried blending it with an egg whisk.
Once it starts getting creamy, put it back in the fridge for another 5-7 minutes.
Take it out, add the essential oil and whip again.

Whip, whip and whip…till it becomes fluffy and soft peaks are formed.
And you are done. Scoop into a glass jar and store in a cool, dry place.

I have used just two ingredients, but you can definitely experiment with some more as well. Sometimes I love adding shea butter, cocoa butter, vitamin E and sweet almond oil too. Shall soon share the recipe of that as well. J
Till then do try out this simple, yet effective recipe.

  6. I think this recipe can be done only during winters because it's during those months that VCO hardens, thus making whipping easy. Other oils like almond, EVOO, grape seed, etc. never solidify. However, I'd suggest you not use this butter on your face Madhubani. Coconut oil has a comedogneity level so, it may clog skin's pores. For body care, pretty much good :)
