The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid Nairobi Camellia Review, Swatches and LOTD

Hello ladies,

I hope you have gone through the swatch post of the recently launched The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquids. If not, click HERE. There are 12 sensational shades of flamboyance in the form of liquid lipsticks, or matte lip liquids as TBS named them. I got the shade in Nairobi Camellia.

Well, I would have picked all if I could have, but right now I am on a makeup ban and it is okay to buy 1-2 products during the ban, but not more than that :P

So does this product stand up to its claims? Let’s see…

What ‘The Body Shop’ has to say about this range:-
Introducing this season's hottest lip-colour trend, Matte Lip Liquid. Specially formulated to glide on effortlessly like a gloss and set with the rich creamy colour and velvety touch of matte lipstick. Available in 12 shades, our new liquid lipstick is long-lasting, lightweight and lusciously soft. And like all our cruelty-free make-up, it's vegetarian too.
  • Long-lasting Matte Lip Liquid with a velvety finish.
  • Available in 12 intensely rich shades
  • 100% vegetarian
  • No gluten
  • No carmine

Price:-
Rs. 695/-

Packaging:-
A cylindrical bottle with matte black cap which has a doe-foot applicator attached inside. The doe foot applicator is of decent quality and applies the product easily and evenly. It has a sticker of the same lip color shade on the top, making it easy to find among others.

Shade:-
A pretty peachy pink color. Very wearable and would look superb on Indian skin tones.

Texture and Finish:-
The texture is very soft, very creamy and glides on lips like a dream. It settles into a velvety matte finish within seconds. The first time I used this lip liquid, my lips felt very dry, as if the product was sucking the moisture off my lips, I was very disappointed. On my second day, I exfoliated my lips really well, applied balm and waited for a while. Then I dabbed the excess balm off with a tissue and went with the lip color. It felt much better. It wasn’t as drying as the previous day; it neither settled into fine lines nor did it accentuate dry patches for a really long time. So lesson learned! You need to properly prep your lips before applying this lip color. Any fault at your part while prepping will lead to dry flaky color on your lips.

Color payoff and Staying power:-
Well pigmented; it goes gorgeously opaque in single swipe. It stayed for around 6-7 hours on me with snacks and drinks in between, but it doesn’t survive full meal. You have to watch out for that and remember that you have to reapply thereafter.

Summing up my Likes and Dislikes:-

Final Thoughts:-
The latest The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid glides on and sets into a striking polished matte finish. The range has beautiful 12 colors to choose from. You just have to keep in mind the prepping of lips part, rest is breeze. Beautiful shade, soft, glides on smoothly, lightweight and sets with a soft, velvety look. I am planning to buy Tahiti Hibiscus. It is such a stunning shade.

Rating:-
