e.l.f. Mineral Eyeshadow Royal and Earthy Reviews, Swatches and EOTD

Hello everyone,

A few days back I reviewed NYX Pearl Mania Yellow Gold on the blog (Read HERE) and today I am here with the review of two more loose powders. Concentrated loose colour powder, or pigment as it is called, is my recent craze. It all started with MAC pigments which I totally adore, but due to the high price tag it is not always possible for me to buy whichever shade I love. So when I came across these I didn’t think twice before buying.

Kindly welcome e.l.f. Mineral Eyeshadow Royal and Earthy :)

ELF says:-
“Bring a touch of natural beauty to your eyes with these natural mineral eye shadow shades that add subtle highlights for daytime or increased drama for night. With key vitamins A, B, C and E these eye shadows hydrate and minimize the appearance of fine lines. Available in an array of light reflecting color options they can be worn wet or dry, together or alone, for countless shimmering styles and trends. The all natural consistency makes them incredibly easy to apply and blend for a flawless finish. All our mineral makeup is 100% mineral based with no paraben, no preservatives and no chemical dyes.”

Price:-
$3. I got them at 40% off... :D

Packaging:-
The eye shadow dust comes in small, cute plastic jars with black screw cap. It has a tray on it with four holes. You have to shake the eye shadow back and forth to get the excess powder loose into the tray, then gently glide the powder onto eyelids with finger or brush.

Shade:-

Royal: A sultry purplish grey with silver shimmers.

Earthy: A gorgeous light olive green with golden shimmers.

Texture:-
The pigment is very finely milled and I love how the fine shimmers add a gorgeous sheen. It has a very smooth, silky texture, does not feel chalky, is easy to apply and blend.

Pigmentation:-
Pigmentation is just astounding. Very rich, shows even without a primer. The shades are buildable and thus can be intensified as per choice. You just need a tiny bit, so a little goes a long way.

Staying power:-
The staying power is awesome and it stayed intact on me for more than 6 hours. No smudging or fading.

How I use:-
Well, I am not sure if this is the correct way of using this. I just take some dust on a pallet, wet by brush and roll it over the dust. Then I pat it on eye lids and later blend edges. It has lot of fall outs, for obvious reason. So it is better you use it wet.

Summing up my likes and Dislikes:-

What I like about e.l.f. Mineral Eyeshadow Royal and Earthy:-
  • Stunning shades.
  • Finely milled.
  • Smooth satiny texture.
  • Blends like a dream.
  • Rich color payoff.
  • Stays long.
  • Doesn’t streak or cake.
  • A little goes a long way.
  • Spill-proof packaging.
  • Dirt Cheap
What I don’t like about e.l.f. Mineral Eyeshadow Royal and Earthy:-
  • Availability.

Final thoughts:-
These are absolutely fantastic and can give many high-end loose shadows a run for money. Super gorgeous shades, incredibly pigmented, go on smooth, stay bright and bold for hours and are dirt cheap. What else can I want? I just wish they had a lock sifter that you can open and close.

Rating:-
4.5/5

Have you tried using pigments ever? Which one is your favorite? Pigments or normal pressed eye shadows, which one do you feel works better? Let us know your opinion :)
